GreenThumb Kettering
Lawn Care Treatments, Repairs and Maintenance Services in Kettering
Welcome to GreenThumb Kettering
We are known as GreenThumb Kettering and operate throughout North Northamptonshire, parts of Leicestershire and Cambridgeshire. Our territory covers the major towns of Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and Rushden, alongside all the villages in the surrounding area and towns including Uppingham, Thrapston and Sawtry to name but a few.
Since launching the Kettering lawn treatment branch in 2004, Steve Kennington and his team have seen the business grow enormously from a few hundred customers in the first year to now looking after over 2500 lawns each year! With our regular treatment programme for lawns and additional services including lawn scarification, lawn aeration and specialist lawn treatments such as water conservers and fungicides, we carry out thousands of lawn treatments every year.
The most common lawn problems we come across are weeds and moss growing in lawns. Other lawn problems we see are fungal diseases such as Red Thread, which causes brown/dead patches on lawns and Leatherjackets which are the grub stage of the crane fly. These can cause lawns to completely disappear or to become patchy and infested with coarser grasses.
Our team are constantly working to help customers achieve the lawn they deserve. I love the work we do and nothing beats the look on a customer’s face when they see the improvements to their lawn. I try and explain to potential customers there are 3 elements to looking after your lawn. There is the part we do with regular treatments and optional treatments as recommended by the lawn care operative, the second part is done by the weather giving warmth and water and the final part is done by the customer themselves and this is mowing the lawn regularly and to the right height (and occasionally giving moisture if the weather is warm but dry).
One such satisfied customer in the area wrote to Steve saying:
“I would like to sign off by thanking you and your team for the fantastic job you have done. Three months ago we were resigned to having no lawn this year – quite a depressing thought with four children, to have our lawn back and looking better than ever has made us all very happy!”
If you would like any advice and a quote for having your lawn treated then please contact one of the team to discuss your requirements and request a free, no obligation lawn survey.

Frequently Asked Questions
When can I start using GreenThumb?
You can adopt our services at any time of the year. There is never a ‘bad time’ to start improving your lawn.
Do I have to be at home when you come and treat my lawn?
The majority of our customers are not at home when we call. Since all our vehicles and Lawn Operatives are self-sufficient, we can carry out your treatments as long as we have access to the lawns.
If you would prefer to be in when we are treating your lawn, we will do our best to accommodate your request.
I have children and /or pets. What should I be aware of?
We recommend that you keep off the lawn until any liquid part of the treatment has dried (approx. 2 hours). This stops it being walked off. And this is especially true of our NutraGreen Autumn Long Treatment, we recommend that you keep off the lawn for more than 2 hours then as it could stain a carpet or wooden floor, if it were walked into the home.
Grazing pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs should be kept off the lawn for a minimum of two weeks or three cuts, whichever occurs latest, to avoid ingestion of Ragwort, in particular, which becomes poisonous to them as it dies back.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No, we want our customers to continue with GreenThumb based on our merits in creating a healthier, greener lawn for them - not because they are stuck in a contract. Of course, with our treatment programmes, you will need to sign a Direct Debit Mandate with the relevant T&C's which relate to this payment option.
