Tim James founded GreenThumb's Sheffield lawn care franchise in 2002.
Today he and his twelve staff keep England's greenest city even greener with GreenThumb's professional lawn feeds. His team covers the whole of Sheffield, from Chapeltown in the north of the city to Dronfield in the South. They also venture out into the Hope Valley, covering the beautiful Derbyshire villages of Hathersage, Bamford, Hope, Castleton, Calver, Bradwell and Eyam.
As well as keeping the turf in tip-top condition, GreenThumb's grass experts are used to tackling the local problems that affect lawns in South Yorkshire.
Tim says: "Most of the territory lies in a heavy, clay soil. This means lawns can get wet very quickly, will hold water and are slow to drain. Therefore moss in the winter is a major problem in the area."
Other common problems include Red thread, which is a fungal disease and Leatherjackets, grubs that gorge on grass roots.
Tim says: "Our aim is and always will be to have lots of customers peering out at their lawns with a satisfied smile on their face."
