GreenThumb Hard Surface Treatments

Our new Hard-Surface treatments are motivated by our understanding of how much our customers value their outdoor spaces. We use a highly effective specialist Hard Surface (Patio, Driveway & Path) Treatment which creates a safer, cleaner space for you and your family.

Over time the appearance of driveways, patios and paths can deteriorate as algae develops, usually causing hard surfaces to turn green or brown. Algae not only diminishes the visual appeal of surfaces making them look unmaintained but can also pose safety hazards due to its slippery nature. The treatment we apply not only enhances the appearance of hard surfaces by reducing algae and fungai but also contributes to the longevity and safety of outdoor spaces by ensuring patios and driveways remain inviting and hazard-free.

We also provide a Hard Service Weed Control Service, unchecked weed growth not only detracts from the visual appeal but can also cause damage to hard surfaces over time.

By offering weed control, we help maintain the integrity of hard surfaces such as pavements, driveways, and patios, preserving their longevity and preventing potential costly repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

On what Hard Surfaces do you apply your treatment?

Our treatments work well with paving slabs, block paving, concrete, artificial sports turf and tarmac. We do not apply the treatment to decking, fencing, marble or slate.

Do I need to prepare the patio/hard surface before your team arrives?

Before we carry out a Hard Surface Cleaner Treatment if there is significant debris or dust, it would be appreciated if you could brush this off before our arrival. Also, if leaves are present please remove these. This will assist in helping to make the treatment more effective.

Is the treatment safe for my family and pets?

After having a Hard Surface Cleaner treatment we simply recommend that children and pets are kept off the area until the product has dried, usually around 2 hours. Additionally, it would be advisable to not walk on the surface treated for this same 2-hour period, as there is the chance of contamination of other surfaces, including lawns.

Do you recommend that we do anything post-treatment to enhance the impact?

In the case of black lichen, using a stiff brush after the product has dried may help with its removal. Similarly, two weeks after treatment moss will become inactive, cease to grow and turn brown, at this point we recommend you brush the surface.

How long will the Hard Surface Cleaning last?

Usually, it starts to clean within 24-48 hours. You should begin to notice a difference within a week, depending on weather. Over the next 4-6 weeks your hard service will continue to improve.

We recommend you have the cleaner treatment on an annual basis, to protect your surfaces from mould and algae.

Can you carry out Hard Surface Weed Control all year around?

The short answer is, no. Whilst we can schedule Hard Surface Weed Control at any time, we need to wait until the weeds are present and active, typically from March onwards to apply the treatment.

Dependent on conditions, we recommend having a hard surface treatment at least once a year.
