Lawn Treatment

Lawn Treatment

If your lawn is past the point where conventional lawn treatments would help, you may be considering ripping it up and re-turfing. To avoid this big expense, GreenThumb offer a Lawn Renovation Programme that will transform your lawn at a fraction of the cost.

Our 4 stage programme removes thatch and moss, and will add valuable nutrients back into the soil.

N.B. You don't have to be a GreenThumb customer to benefit from this great service!

Lawn Renovation Stages

Following a FREE, no obligation thorough on-site survey and lawn assessment, our programme consists of:

Stage 1

Hollow-tine Aeration - reduces compaction and allows air, water and nutrients back into the root zone.

Stage 2

Deep Scarification - removes thatch and moss, carried out in accordance with the lawn’s needs.

Stage 3

Overseeding - using bespoke GreenThumb approved lawn seed to replenish the lawn.

Stage 4

Top Dressing* - 100% recycled, peat free, organic green waste material with high levels of nutrients to encourage seed development.

FAQs

How long does the lawn renovation take?

We aim to get the whole programme finished on the same day. However, weather, size of lawn and other time constraints may mean that the renovation is carried over into a second day.

How long will it take for the lawn to recover?

This is all down to how quickly the germination of the grass seed occurs. There are a number of factors that determine this: ground temperature, moisture levels and light. You should notice a difference in the lawn from about 4 weeks onwards.

Will I need to water the area after the renovation programme has been completed?

The new lawn seed will require water to germinate, so any water you can put on the lawn will be beneficial, although if there is sufficient rainfall, this will not be necessary.

When can I cut the lawn?

Commence once the lawn has reached 2 leaf stage, approx 35-40mm or 1¼-1½”, for the first month. Initially, only trim the top of the plant off; a normal regular weekly cutting programme can then be established.

When can the lawn treatments resume?

Treatments can restart 3 months after the first cut has taken place.

How long should pets be kept off the lawn?

There is nothing within the treatment programme that could be harmful to your pets. However, it is good to keep in mind that you will have young grass shoots germinating and the top dressing will need time to settle. We would recommend that you keep off the lawn until it is reasonably mature enough to cope with traffic - this goes for human traffic too.

Will there be any debris that will need to be removed?

Yes, we can either bag up the scarification waste and leave it in a convenient place or add it to your compost heap, whichever you prefer. Alternatively, we can remove the waste for you, but there will be a charge.
