Hollow Tine Aeration Aeration is the most effective way of reducing sub-surface thatch and soil compaction (usually found on clay soils). This operation involves the removal of thousands of cores, each about the size of a man’s little finger, from the lawn. Hollow-Tine Aeration requires specialist professional equipment. Cores are usually left to break down to act as a dressing.
We do not carry out lawn slitting or solid tine aeration as these procedures provide very little benefit in relieving the problems of compaction and thatch on lawns.
Like the GreenThumb scarification machines, our hollow- tine machines are purpose built, dedicated, professional machines, producing professional results.
Our optional, beneficial lawn treatments are not part of our standard, annual 4-treatment programme, as we will only recommend them when lawn conditions dictate their value.
For more information on either of these winter beneficial treatments, you can download our Hollow Tine Aeration and/or Scarification Rules of Thumb.
