Our History

Founder and CEO, Stephen Waring, started GreenThumb after experiencing the lawn treatment service in the United States in 1985.

He saw great potential for a similar service in the United Kingdom, and GreenThumb was born on 1 April 1986, on the North Wales coast.

Stephen started out with 1,000 leaflets and the commitment to create a customer-focused business. The response was fantastic and today there are over 200 GreenThumb operations across the UK, from the Isle of Wight to Inverness in Scotland, with a new branch opening every month, servicing almost 450,000 lawns every 10 weeks.  Most GreenThumb franchises around the country are operated by families, in keeping with our goal to provide a personal service to our customers.
