Why the Lawn Care Sector?

GreenThumb has long proclaimed the huge potential market for lawn treatment service. A number of years ago we encouraged potential franchisees to go to their local garden centres or DIY stores and just look at the amount of shelf space dedicated to ‘the lawn’. "Would they stock it, if they didn’t sell it?", was our understanding of the lawn care potential.

Today however, we have franchisees who service more than 20% of all homes in large towns. We have franchisees who service over 7% of all the homes in their territories, and are increasing this figure by more than 1.5% each year.

Our target is for franchisees to service at least 10% of all homes in their territory, with each of these households spending up to £200 p.a. with us, dependent upon regional variations in lawn size.

Our competition is not currently from our many imitators but the DIY store’s promise of a short term solution versus a year round service. The instant gratification of the one night stand versus the understanding and trust of a lasting relationship.

This is a mindset we are changing…the reason…..we talk to our customers and they talk to each other.

In the UK we invented the concept of lawncare as a service, a market we now have a 90% share of.
